I write the way I speak, maybe with more clarity because I have time to think more. Hopefully as I write out my journey to becoming a more godly man, it will inspire that same desire in others. I'm God's handiwork, He's the one working on the Project, I just want to get on board with what He's doing!

This past Sunday, Pastor Kip gave his second message in the series, 'Here I Am', about obedience. He spoke from Genesis 22, and in that passage we see Abraham respond immediately in obedience to God. Sometimes God speaks to us, and we know what we need to do, but we wrestle with it, delay it, keep putting it off. Delayed obedience is really disobedience. When we say, "Here I am" to God, we're letting Him know that we're willing to be available, to trust Him and be obedient, regardless of the cost - and there will be a cost. Obedience carries with it a death sentence, whether of our rights, plans, opinions, time, finances, harmful friendships, or even our preferences. Jesus was obedient, even though dying would not have been His preference. He said, "...not my will, but yours be done." God asks us, as He asked Abraham, to trust Him. Abraham trusted in God's character. Although things didn't make sense he knew that he could trust God. He had the awe, the reverence, the fear of the Lord that is the root of obedience. Let us trust God's character, obeying immediately when He asks us to, not because we understand how everything will work out, but because He does.
