Today I was reading 1 Timothy 3 & 4, and a couple verses in chapter 4 jumped out at me. If you look at them together, verses 8 and 16 are a couple of the major reasons why I've been writing this journal and blog. Verse 8 says, "...godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." Verse 16 says, "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." That's why I do what I do. What's the use of knowing and writing about the good news of God's loving heart, the possibility of living a godly life, and practical ways to live out that hope, if I don't let it change the way I live my life? That's why I don't want this to be just the Godly Man Discussion, I want it to be a project in truth, where I am the first one to have the ideas applied to myself. Godliness is worth the time and effort. God pursued me first, and it's worthwhile pursuing Him.
