I read the first 2 chapters of Philippians today, and one particular sentence in chapter 1, verse 18 got my attention: "...The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached..." I think Paul is saying that it's better that Christ is preached, from any motive, than that He's not preached. This makes me rethink my attitude toward certain televangelists who seem to be in it for the money. They very well may be preaching from false motives, but if they're actually preaching Christ then some good is being done as well, and I have to be careful not to throw out the work that God is doing through that just because their motives are askew. That being said, I'm still likely to caution people not to send in their paycheques for a vial of brand-name holy water.
