Today as I was reading though 1 Corinthians, chapter 10, verse 24 stuck out to me: "Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others." That can seem counterintuitive, but I've found that when I'm focused only on myself, I can easily get frustrated and annoyed when things don't go the way I'm hoping. When I focus on others, and their good, the frustrations and annoyances aren't as much of a bother - they're just little speed bumps on the way to the goal of someone else's well-being, and because my good isn't the goal, they're not in direct opposition to me. It's funny how God's way of looking out for the well-being of others is really better for my own well-being too. God knows the way life works best, and why not? He created it, so He ought to. The thing that's really funny is that we think we know better, or we're afraid that He doesn't really have our best in mind. He's trustworthy in this area as much as any other.
The other focus today was hard work and perseverance. Specifically, shoveling and driving in lots of snow. Thanks to God for the ability, and courage, to keep going until everything was done.
