Had an interesting opportunity at work today with the storm coming on (related to Hurricane Sandy)... one of my co-workers was afraid of flooding (which is expected in this storm) and mentioned Noah's Ark, and that she thought we might get another flood because mankind is getting pretty bad again, so I told her about God's promise that He put the rainbow in the sky as a symbol, so whenever He sees it, He remembers His promise not to flood the whole earth again. She was still thinking about disasters and the end of the world, so she told me that her other Christian friend told her that Earth is going to become Hell, and we'll go up to Heaven. I was able to reassure her a little bit. I said that a lot is uncertain about the end of the world (understatement of the year!), but God says He's going to make all things new, so there'll be a new heaven and a new earth. She said that would be great, and then it hit me - that will be great! How much do I take for granted because I've heard it so often, that would - and should - bring so much joy if I took the time to think it through? How many times have I been afraid to talk about God for fear that someone doesn't want to hear it, when the fact is that the truth about Him would revolutionize their lives?
God, forgive me for keeping my mouth shut when You've given me an opportunity to speak, and help me to speak fearlessly when You have something for me to say. Amen.
