I read through some more of Revelation today and when I got to 12:10-12, something in particular caught my eye, relating to 1 John 5:4. That says it is our faith that overcomes the world, and this says the devil is overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. I've heard that our 3 main enemies are the world, the flesh, and the devil, and that makes sense to me as they represent the struggle within, influences from the spiritual realm, and our natural surroundings. If that's the case, then Jesus' payment for me, my faith in Him and my testimony take the bite out of 2 of those... I'll be interested to find out in my reading what it is that overcomes the flesh. I imagine self-discipline, which is part of the Spirit God has given me, will play a big part. I'll also want to go back over the letters to the churches where it talks about overcoming. The more I learn, the more I want to know, and the more study I realize that I need to do.
Dear God, thank you for Your revelation to John. I'm pretty tired today after paintballing with some guys from church (thank you for them, by the way) and there's a lot of prophetic language that I'm having trouble comprehending at the moment, so thank you for preparing a passage that would speak right to me. I love the way You know just what I need to hear, and I'm going to try to listen to You consistently and often. Talk to You soon. Amen.
