Go figure - Pastor Mike Bronson spoke about the same thing I've been thinking about this week, and that I looked at yesterday. In fact, one of the examples of patience and persistence who I mentioned, David, is the example he gave today. David was anointed as the next king when he was around the age of 15, and though he had this promise, things just kept getting more difficult, and it's not until he was 30 years old that he actually became king. David's promise was 15 years in the making, and if he had given up on that promise he would have missed out on what he was hoping for.
Pastor Mike challenged us to look at the hopes and dreams that God has put in our lives, and not to give up, but to wait for God's timing and keep hoping. The reward is worth the pain and struggle in the meantime. Don't give up on what God has given us. Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." It's not our job to fulfill the promise we've been given, God will accomplish His purposes. Our job is to keep hoping and not give up.
