Reading Romans 3-4 today, I'm reminded of a conversation I had yesterday, talking about how no one has their life together completely, we're all broken and need God. The more we realize that we're broken, the more we figure out that God is not an option, He's essential. That's when we allow Him to use us, to heal us, to make us into something far greater than we could ever be without Him. If we think this doesn't apply to us, we just have to look at Romans 3:10-12, "As it is written, 'There is no one righteous, not even one; / there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. / All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.' " If, as I looked at yesterday, understanding and seeking God is what a godly man must be doing, then this makes it clear that we all have something broken within us. Verses 22-24 give hope for everyone though, "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, / for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, / and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." We might as well acknowledge our brokenness, accept His redemption of our lives, and move on into an exciting life, walking in the purposes of God. I can say from experience that pretending I'm not broken doesn't work, and ignoring my brokenness doesn't work. It's time to turn to God, and the way that does work.
