I read Acts 13 & 14 today, and in Acts 13 I noticed something simply put that makes the good news of God's plan evident. Verses 38-39 say, "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. / Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses." That seems like a blanket statement covering such a wide range that at first it's hard to take in. I think it's easy to just read it as "Jesus forgives us and justifies us from our sins." While that is an important application of the verses, there's more to see. There's the focus on that forgiveness and justification coming through Christ. He is not an option, each and every believer is justified through Him. The other point, and a most encouraging one, is that this is open to everyone. Just as no one is exempt from the consequences of sin, no one is disqualified from the offer to be justified and forgiven for every sin. Of course, it is our choice what to do with that offer. Let us choose to believe, as a result to love, and because of all this to live for our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
