I read Matthew 24-26 today, leading up to Jesus' arrest. Jesus talks about His coming at the end of the age, and encourages us to be ready, remaining faithful and vigilant, living in such a way that our hope of His return is evident.
Peter was so sure that he would never fall away from Jesus, never disown Him - we are all capable of things that we would rather not admit to ourselves. That just goes to show how much we need God's grace to stand when we are weak, His mercy to cover our every sin, His wisdom to be aware of the war between flesh and spirit and to counteract the flesh's desires. Let's not allow our capability for wrong to be a discouragement, let's allow it to give even more glory to God for His power at work in us, and to remind us of our continual need for Him and to bind us ever closer to Him in love.
