I read Genesis 24 and 25 today. Chapter 24 is the story of how Abraham's son Isaac met his wife. It didn't involve a lot of dating or trial and error, but it did involve a lot of prayer and faith, and it worked. It was done with respect for the woman's wishes, and those of her family. Since so many godly men in the Bible found their wives in different ways, I don't think marrying someone you've never met is meant to be a pattern for everyone to follow to the letter, but the principles stand firm. I can trust that God has things under control, that He knows who the right girl is for me, and that His timing will be right. I need to follow Him, and not get sidetracked, so that I'll be in the right place and prepared when He does bring her along.
Dear God, give me the wisdom to place my future securely in Your hands. I pray that You would prepare me in advance for my wife, and prepare her for me as well. I trust You, even when I don't understand why things happen the way they do. Amen.
