I read Matthew 8 & 9 today, and got to look at the way that Jesus treated people. He had compassion on the outcast leper, He rewarded faith regardless of who the person was (a non-Jewish centurion), He gave sight to the blind, healed the sick and raised the dead. Chapter 9, verse 36 says He had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, and in verse 38 He asks His disciples to pray for more workers.
God, please teach me how to be compassionate in the way that Jesus was, to help the helpless, and bring Your good news to those who need to hear it. Amen.
