Today, Pastor Mike spoke from the book of Nehemiah, and about stepping out in faith, to share what is on God's heart, and then to do what He has put on our hearts. Memorable quotes include:
"Walking in faith requires us to leave our regular way of living behind." (even if it's as comfortable as Mike in a Snuggie)
"The reward of faith is worth the risk."
"Let 2013 be the year where you do something scary, but awesome."
I was talking with a friend at church after the service, and with the new year coming up the topic of New Year's Resolutions came up. I have a lot of respect for people resolving to change things in their lives for the better, and a new year feels like another chance to make a fresh start. I won't be making any resolutions specifically for the new year myself, not because I don't agree with it, but because I've already been in the process of making, working through, and living out resolutions to make changes for the better for 2 months now expressly through this journal/blog, and perhaps less intentionally over the past months and years. I'd personally rather not link a resolution to a new year, and if I don't keep it up then it's broken and over with, I'd rather have it be perpetual, with the continual encouragement to renew my efforts when I falter.
May God bless each of us in the coming year with His strength to keep to our integrity and commitment to Him, and to living a godly life, a little more each day.
