I read the last 2 chapters of 1 Corinthians today, and my attention was caught by chapter 16, verses 13-14, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. / Do everything in love." I don't know about anyone else, but it was a timely passage for me to read today. Sometimes when things seem to be going well, I tend to forget that there's a spiritual battle going on. Just because I'm doing well doesn't mean that those around me are, and I run the very real risk of becoming complacent to the cares and concerns of others. If, as I've looked at in the rest of 1 Corinthians, we are a body, and each part needs all the other parts, then I need to be paying close attention in the good times to see if there's anyone who needs encouragement, prayer, friendship, anything God has given me to bless others with. Sometimes I see so many needs around me that I get overwhelmed by it all. It's true that I'm not God, and I can't meet all of the needs of everyone around me, even the ones that I'm asked to or would like to. That being said, however, I can do something, I can give something, I can bless someone on God's behalf. God has blessed me and intends that I share that blessing, so I need to be prepared. When He says to act, I need to follow His lead and do as He commands.
